Hi all. Just wondering, do you guys think the prices of Noble Hierarch and Maelstrom Pulse will drop after they rotate out of type 2? If so, drop by how much? I'm trying to figure out if I want to invest in these cards now, or hold off for the time being.__________________ Keith McLaughlin Try my mobile-friendly card search and simple proxy-making tool.

Noble hierarch: Maybe a couple dollars but not so much. Maelstrom Pulse: Maybe down to 7-8$, or maybe less.__________________ The Swiss Guy is there! Playing: T1.X Dark Zoo, T1.5 Tempo Tresh, T1 Control feat. Goyf

Both i can only see dropping to about 10. These are some of the few cards in type 2 that will hold any kind of value when they rotate. Noble hierarch more so.

As long as Hierarch keeps being used in Extended and Legacy, it will not drop much.__________________ MOTL's Most Likely to Play in the Pro Tour - Three Years Running for 2007, 2008, and 2009 (My Nationals) Co-Founder of Long Island's Newest Vintage Team - Team of Towers

$10-12 on both since they both see play in extended.

I have to correct this: Maelstrom Pulse is absolutely not as played as Noble Hierarch. So there's no reason for them to drop to the same price. __________________ The Swiss Guy is there! Playing: T1.X Dark Zoo, T1.5 Tempo Tresh, T1 Control feat. Goyf

Vindicate is around $10 so wouldn't Pulse stay above Vindicate. ?

in theory yes, but not with the supply of pulses as people dump theirs after rotation, it will see a dip then probably increase over time

If you want to know about pulse.. think of what happened to cranial extraction after rotation.. it went from a $20 card down to an $8-10 card.I see it dropping to $6-8 as pulse is 2 colored while cranial is only black.

Will fetches and Planeswalkers retain their value after they rotate out?

Noble will drop a little, not that much as its played a reasonable bit in extended and legacy. I think $12 Pulse will drop quite a bit as it really seems very marginal play outside of t2. I think $7 Fetchlands will retain their value Planeswalkers will not.

Pulse actually has an effect on the state of the board. Cranial does not.

I'd compare pulse to Vindicate which is why I said pulse would be about $10. Vindicate is in lower supply than Pulse but better in the fact that it destroys a land so with Vindicate at $11-12, outside of standard I would say pulse will be about $8.

BG is a stronger/more popular color combination than BW, however. __________________ Keith McLaughlin Try my mobile-friendly card search and simple proxy-making tool.

In the initial dip after rotation when extended season is NOT happening, expect Maelstrom Pulse to dip as low as $3-5 (like deed and vindicate did directly after THEIR rotation). Pulse will bounce back when a good Legacy deck or extended deck wins with it (may be a while there). Expect Hierach to stay around $7-10, since that's about what birds of paradise went for when they were no longer standard legal for a brief period of time.

I doubt Pulse will ever go as low as $5. It just seems too good of a card to be that low. Hierarch I also doubt will see that much of a drop, probably just to the point which it was at when it was seeing marginal play in standard- $10-12 (as at this point it was already seeing some Legacy play). Hierarch will continue seeing Legacy play until CT-Progenitus becomes bad, at that point there'll probably be a slow decline in its price. Even then, like someone mentioned above, it is seeing play in Vintage (granted I am not too familiar with Vintage) so it probably has a place regardless of what happens.
