In fact im always happy :P

But when i see that card go higher and higher i cant be sad.

By the way, why are you saying I am happy to see retainers at 150$?? there are other members who own retainer?!

It would be a dollar rare if it wasn't mythic and people weren't idiots.

It has its uses... probably going down because no one wants to play it in T2 (nice Baneslayer).

I've seen it played in Legacy, in a Pox shell (Phyrexian Tower, Gatekeeper, Cabal Therapy, plus general Pox effects), and there is a mono-black Aggro-control list on Mtgthesource that is using about the same, but with Jitte/Nighthawk/Bitterblossom etc.

That said, it's still a solid card if it fits in the theme of your deck (Savra, Queen of the Golgari EDH? ), so it probably levels out in the $7-10 range.

This week, i had a guy offer to trade me his eye of ugin for my volcanic island at our local store. I couldnt believe he would let an offer that stupid come out of his mouth. And he was serious to.

My fav was that a scrubland was worth more then two delts and a lacky by ~ 30 bucks...

Cuz they are awesome. 2 Mana to thin your deck and put a plains directly into play and also get a 2/2 First Striker out of it.

I know its a good card, but there are alot of good cards that arent 4.00. White weenie isnt even getting played, and the versions i seen dont play it.

Could be because its seeing some play in Legacy (not much but some in a UW Tempo deck).

It's played in white weenie and some UW control variants with borderposts/path to exile.

It seems like if anyone mentions a card on there the price climbs astronomically.

Its not that much, this is just like what they did with scroll rack, and we all see how scroll rack has been wrecking the tournament circuit. Its just them using the muscle to affect the market.

Let them keep doing this. They seem to be picking cards I have lots of (just checked my old Legends extras and found I have at least a dozen Karakas. I got them for almost nothing years ago because no one wanted them )

Wow! I have 5 now, as I'm using them in a Blue White Legacy deck I'm making. Always nice to see a card you bought and traded for go up in value (like buying stock in Microsoft). Is it worth that much? Probably not.

Question - Other than it's used in Death and Taxes, and against Reanimator Iona, what else is Karakas used in?

Theres a little trick with Mangara of Corondor that has been picking up some steam


Edit: so apparently that deck is called death and taxes.

Yeah, that's the deck. I think someone got 14th at the most recent starcitygames with it. My deck is actually combining the D&T idea with some other stuff, but yes, the combo with Mangera is funny to see it pull off (and it gets even better when you have vial set to 3).
