As Painter's Servant comes into play, choose a color. All cards that aren't in play, spells, and permanents are the chosen color in addition to their other colors.
So, yeah, [insert mega criticism here]. Read the card, dude.

Taken, and I believe I asked a few question about that cards stated ability. The grey matter is now clear.Team Icbm may have used this form of control as well, but from reading I had the impression the stack they controlled often with the blast.

Blast work well in a format where broken cards are likely blue. Even without painter in play, the red blast will win you counter wars (fow, drain, merchant scroll, ancestral recall, brianstorm etc etc)Robert

Yeah I was suprised why someone tarded me Crucible of Worlds and Temple Gardens for them and now I see why.Kinda reminds me of how I bought the 4 Tarmogoyfs I own for $15 each way back and now look.

thing is most of us that bought only a playset for that price will still own them until they are worth that much again. I know I wont get rid of the chinese ones I have unless a playset of japanese becomes available at something way less then they are worth.

We're up to $32 apiece. Guess 14 was 'cheap'.

If your heart isn't set on playing this deck right away I would sell cause these prices are not gonna last. There is just too many grindstones to go around. Everyone see the painter is up and around $8 to $10 dollars "ebay say" now also? I got a bunch of them locally monday night for $1 each...lol.. Time to flip'em

I was going to play them at GP Indy. I may Hold on to them and trade them there. Considering I have 25 dollars tied up in 4 Grindstones and 4 servants. The cash just seems like a good idea.

I'm thinking the same thing. I picked up my grinds at $5 or less each so I'm in the same boat you are. Cool new deck or $$$$ that is the question. I think i'm gonna cash out and just build this deck in a couple months when the cards are $4.00 each agian (for grinds and\or painters). $100 bucks is $100 bucks and my grinds are going to be sold.....for $100 bucks

Casual players won't pay big cash for grindstones. And still the combo isn't that mighty. Vulnerable to a single blessing, chalice, creature hate,.. Selling them now is best the best choice for sure.

That means it does have casual appeal.

For once I agree with him. Just because a card gets hot why is it time to start ripping people off? The winner lost 2 games total? Is this combo beatable in a general deck building sense or is Vintage going to degenerate into the same scenario as Ravager Affinity standard, 2 decks Grindstone/Painter's Servant and the deck that beats Grindstone/Painter's Servant?

@shwin...you're an idiot, how does that sound? you probably rip little kids off at your store dont you? on the deck note, i dont think it will be that bad, i just think it is another strong entrant in t1 and should be at the level of flash or oath..

Deck that beats Grindstone/Painters servant is anything involving Gaea's Blessing.

This is the PEAK of the grindstone price! It's the equivlant of brokers on wall street yelling SELL! SELL! SELL! But that's just my opinion, and we all know about opinions, most of them STINK!

It's $25 now but unlike Tarmogoyf I don't think it will reach $40+ since there are fewer decks playing the card and it's in a format with a very limited amount of people.
