Yes....it's here again. The longest running MOTL fantasy sports game there is, Fantasy Baseball!I can't believe we are almost ready to draft again...but we are, and just like Christmas comes every December so do the signups for this league. Congradulations to TheGame...last year's winner! Who beat me in the finals *bastard*. As always the scoring is 5x5 head to head. That means there are 10 categories of scoring, 5 for fielders and 5 for pitchers. They are as follows...AVE, SB, RBI, HR, RUNS....for fielders...and WINS, SAVES, ERA, WHIP and the all important K's for picthers. There will be 22 rounds of the draft, held here on these very boards. After the draft I will imput the results into our very own Yahoo league where then Yahoo will basically do the rest fof us. You will get daily roster updates, and unlimited moves/trades. Trades will be able to be vetod if more than half the league disagress with the trade. I know it's a long season....so if you think you wont kep up please don't join. We do try to keep this a semi-compettitive league at one at least where everyone participates all year. It makes it fun...even if you suck if everyone sticks it out the whole way. We need 12! and after I get the 12 I will randomly draw numbers for the drafting positions. The draft will be run like a sname 1-12 12-1 1-12 etc etc. You will need to draft the following for a starting roster...C,1B,2B,SS,3B,3xOF,UTL,2xSP,2xRP,4xP then the rest is bench. When you sign up please put you name, team name...and a smiley of your choice! 1.daner ~ Pirates SUCK * 6th 2.speechjew ~ Kingpins * 1st 3.Thanos ~ The Demonic Pimps * 9th 4.Bernek77 ~ Dirty Kenzos * 4th 5.puregoblinboy47 ~ F-Bombs * 5th 6.OGB ~ Schrute Farms * 8th 7.hilikus ~ The Picklers * 7th 8.super324 ~ * 2nd 9.Masterwolf ~ WulfPack Mafia * 11th 10.hammr7 ~ longnecks * 3rd 11.Montague ~ Team Southpark Jesus * 10th 12.TerryJ15 ~ Terry's Princess Pumpkins * 12th

I'd like to play. Should have a lot more time this year to do so. Apologize for last year's inactivity. The Picklers.
The draft should be pretty interesting without a UTL spot. Should be a bit easier to get infielders.

We tried to add OPS and CG one year. It sucked....only because OPS while a great stat for hitting...pitching has no stat that matches up to it. You get OPS on a daily basis, CG's were hardly ever a factor, and I'd expect Holds to be little if at all different than that. Find a stat the will actually make a difference for Pitching, and maybe we will add OPS back.

you better capitalize Kingpins you better not do holds. The day Luke Gregerson gets drafted in a fantasy draft is the day I quit fantasy baseball.

I remember the CG season. I think you can actually draft for holds though. CG you really can't outside of Roy Halladay. I think holds would be as frequent, if not more frequent than Saves. So it would definitely be draftable. Other options for pitching would probably end up being Losses, or some other percentage stat (which would go nicely with OPS if we agree on a good one). Maybe K/BB, or K/9. I realize that we've already got K's as a stat, but if you think about it OPS goes off of a number of other stats as well (similarly). Generally high OPS means plenty of extra base hits, and a good OBP (which leads to lots of runs).

Sleeper closer depending on what they do with Heath Bell over in SD. I'd draft him in my other league but he's taken .

I'll be back again. Hopefully this year I can keep half my top picks off the DL! I had a tremendous last two weeks, too bad it was in the consolation round.hammr7 - longnecks -

that's not a bad stat to use, considering it comes into play every time a pitcher is used.

It also punishes people who churn pitchers to get up their W and Ks. __________________ Born in America land of the free, for the right price that's how it will be. -MF Grimm

So does L if that pitcher does poorly. Sometimes you can't win ERA or WHIP...but you can like you said churn guys to get K's and W's....but if the guy doesn't win and takes the L you'd get extra boned. EDIT: draft position has been determined

L's and W's give pitchers less over their fate control than k/9. Like Tiny Tim should have had a 20+ win season almost every year, but he plays in San Fransisco. K/9 is one of the only things pitchers have DIRECT control over...save if he has a horrible ump. __________________ Born in America land of the free, for the right price that's how it will be. -MF Grimm
