I feel like I am behind the curve in this draft. I have a strategy set out, and I'm going to follow it, but some of the picks have me scratching my head. Kinda makes me wonder what they know that I don't.

I reached for Longoria, but I wanted to take a 3B, didn't want to take Wright. His 10 homers last year concerned me, and Longo has a chance to improve on last year's numbers. Reyes looks to be healthy, at least from reports lately. So I figured, if he's good to go now, and he's normally a round 1 pick, might as well go for him . It also fills out a very weak position for me, which my other considerations didn't.

So um, that's my draft so far.

Honestly, I am just looking at a rankings sheet for 2010. Since it is so early, and I don't follow baseball quite enough to know all of these players I am looking at on base percentage & SLUG. I took Cabrera because I thought he was the best non-pitcher left for my first pick, and I took Wright over a couple of others I wanted because those positions are stacked with talent and I could get a decent player in later rounds.

So yeah, I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing.

I didnt mean anything by it OGB, just picking Chone this early makes me think that I am out of the loop. I figured him for about a 3rd round pick.

EDIT: First five rounds your just suppose to pick the best player available anyways right?

Pretty much. I actually probably should have taken M Cabb with my pick. He does a lot for you. Wright is a nice pick, I was just worried about the power stats with this year adding OPS.

Generally you want to pick the best possible, but I try to fill the infield positions while doing that.

I wanted Wright but you see what happened.

Was really debating on taking Reyes.

Was hoping Wright made it back to me....oh well took my 2nd guy off my 3B list.

I REALLY wanted to take Joe Mauer in the 1st round, common sense talked me out of it. Had Ryan Braun not been available, I'd have taken him.

Okay, sweet. Now if the next person I wanted somehow makes it all the way back to me, I'll be happy!

Willing to trade 3+4 for someone's 3+4 who picks earlier in 3.

Also willing to trade 3 + 7 for someone's remaining 2nd rounder.

I'm glad that you didn't! He was on the top of my list.

Also, the first round was crazy bad, because my list went Braun, Tex, Longoria. PGB and Dane took 2/3s of em right before me lol. I do like how it turned out though, so no worries.

Really dane? Kung fun panda second round? Don't get me wrong, he was a complete stud for me last year, but you love him that much even though he won't have C elligibility?

Don't get me wrong. I was hoping to select him round 4

Cornering for trade bait, because that's the only reasoning I can think of for that pick...

From now on, I will give Chris Berman nicknames to all of my picks.

For example, the last pick would have been "Helen of" Troy Tulowitzki or some such pun.

Feel free to join in the fun!

I live outside Philadelphia, think Rollins will have a nice rebound year, and expect him and Utley to be involved in tons of run production. If I had taken another 2B it might be for trade bait, but having my middle filled is just that.

Understood.

*edit

Don't know what I was looking at but I thought you drafted two SS, that's why I made the comment to begin with.

Oh I know he will lose his "C" eligability...but as a 3B his stats are off the charts. I REALLY wanted him, so I went out and got him bc I knew he wouldn't last much longer. Well, I know he wouldn't have made it back to me after the 3rd round...so I took him in the 2nd just in case and still got a SS I was happy to get.

So far my draft has worked out to my liking....which means my team will do terrible.

Too bad everyone in the draft isn't on the East Coast like me. With the amount of snow that's now predicted, we could have the draft done by tomorrow morning, since there won't be much else to do.

Damn....nice pick on Sizemore Terry.....was hoping I could snag him in the 4th but I knew it was risky.

Was seriously debating him in the 3rd, thought I had a chance in the 4th, guess not.

Fair enough. I'm happy with either so it works out. lol. I didn't think Verlander would get taken is all, but you can't argue with those K's.

@hammr7 - where are you on the East Coast? I'm in Boston and we got about a foot total, just stopped about 3pm.

If you read all the news stories, they will tell you that the worst snows were east of Philadelphia. That's exactly where I live, in the Cherry Hill area. Officially, we averaged 24" of snow. But I just got done shoveling, and my sidewalk averaged 27". My back yard is all over 30" of snow which has my dog (a Welsh Pembroke Corgi) totally upset. He loves snow, and wants to roam the yard, but this is too much for him, since he's a bit of a midget in height. There is no place in the back yard he can go since the snow is way over his head.
