so I did a mock draft on yahoo last night, and I kid you not, this is the team I got:1. Mark Teixeira (NYY - 1B) 2. Troy Tulowitzki (Col - SS) 3. Félix Hernández (Sea - SP) 4. Mark Reynolds (Ari - 1B,3B) 5. Curtis Granderson (NYY - OF) 6. Ubaldo Jiménez (Col - SP) 7. Jonathan Papelbon (Bos - RP) 8. Tommy Hanson (Atl - SP) 9. Raúl Ibañez (Phi - OF) 10. Michael Bourn (Hou - OF) 11. Brian Wilson (SF - RP) 12. Vladimir Guerrero (Tex - Util) 13. Kurt Suzuki (Oak - C) 14. A.J. Burnett (NYY - SP) 15. Billy Wagner (Atl - RP) 16. Ryan Franklin (StL - RP) 17. Rich Harden (Tex - SP) 18. Hideki Matsui (LAA - Util) 19. Cody Ross (Fla - OF) 20. Plácido Polanco (Phi - 2B) 21. Edinson Vólquez (Cin - SP) 22. Octavio Dotel (Pit - RP) 23. Martín Prado (Atl - 1B,2B,3B) It really makes me respect you guys, seeing as how you seem to know what you're doing, instead of these morons I drafted with. Look at spots 14-17. I could easily get 28-30 wins, 70 saves, and 500 k's. No one in our league has a 14-17 that good, and that's a compliment.

Unless I've counted wrong, MW has drafted 23 players, so you can only put one of the two on your roster.

You counted wrong. One of the picks was out of order. I dunno if I was supposed to pick him again or not. Doesn't matter to me honestly. __________________ nderdog: Why do I have a feeling that people wouldn't be so interested in checking out new hobbies if it didn't involve boobies? ----------------- Co-Champion - 2009 MOTL Fantasy Football 2nd Place - 2003 MOTL Fantasy Football

You took Felix too early, and Troy never lasts a full season. Palpelbon is damn near done and you shouldn't take a closer before round 9-10 or so. And yes I know I took Kinsler in the second in our draft....but I'm a homer. __________________ Born in America land of the free, for the right price that's how it will be. -MF Grimm

I think the fact is, the pool this year is just thick. Mike drafted a nice team, but I've been just impressed with how many decent players just aren't getting any looks. To me it seems in past years, the pool has been much more shallow as far as useful fantasy players go.quote: Originally posted by daner: Nvm...apparently he IS on the player list.
Who might that be? EDIT: DAMNITALL! One of my spects got busted for cheatin . 50 game suspension. Such a pain because I didn't want to have to cut the guy, but it's looking that way now.

papelbon is done? 2009: 38 saves, 10 k's/9, and a 1.85 ERA. His walks were a little high, but now he's got a better defense behind him.

he is 29. His walks in the second half sky rocketed and hes losing velocity. and for someone that depends on his fastball like 80+ percent, that doesn't hold well for him. Besides that I really don't like taking closers that early. Like you can get 30+ save closers in rounds 11-13. You're better off getting an Ace or a bat in that position. __________________ Born in America land of the free, for the right price that's how it will be. -MF Grimm

Pedro Alvarez.....didn't think he would be on the player list since A. He's never played a single game above Double-A. B. He's probably not going to start the year on Pittsburgh's opening day roster. Probably a mid-may/june call up. I thought about it, and put that there because most people know the rule on drafting players not on yahoo's player list yet. If you need an explanation I can explain but we haven't had anyone drafted so far that isn't on the player list.

Ok...well I doubt you need the rules lesson otehrs might. IF YOU DRAFTED A GUY NOT ON THE PLAYER LIST LISTEN UP!!!!!!!! You wil get the worst overall player on yahoo rankings list, that person will count as the person you drafted. You cannot play that player, in turn nobody can pick up your guy as long as you have him on your roster.
When the original guy becomes available on yahoo's player list you MUST drop the X player and pick your guy up. If you drop the X player you lose the rights to the guy you were waiting on, nobody else can claim him either tho. You like everyone else now must wait until he becomes a player in yahoo then aquire him via waivers or FA.

How come you can't play that player?I always thought that we could and I have in the past...

I think it has to do with the fact that you have exclusive rights to said player. So if you drafted Jason Heyward, and he were in the database, he would be chilling on your bench or you'd have to drop him. If he's playing, he's in the Yahoo! database already. So the placeholder shouldn't be played because you'd be getting extra stats/player.

As to where if you don't play the placeholder you lose out on stats

As long as you don't play the placeholder, your selected player should be safe via commish rules/honor system. If you elect to play the placeholder, imo, you basically selected a different player and the original one should be on the WW to be picked up as normal.

As you should, because if your prospect is in the system, and on your roster, and not playing you get nothing anyway. Basically the deal is like, your placeholder represents that player. If your player was in the system, but not playing in MLB games, he would be taking up space. Your placeholder should represent the same. Once your player is in the system, you can immediately add him, and drop the placeholder. If you were allowed to play the placeholder, you'd essentially be getting stats from an extra player. You'd have a player not in the system who's not playing AND your placeholder essentially on your team. __________________ MMObaseball CentSportsPlay em, they're fun and free!
