Poor Farrah--I really liked her. I still recall the gold-bodypaint layout she did for Playboy ages ago.WRT Michael, news reports are conflicting. Some are saying coma, some are saying dead. I loved his music, but he was one messed up dude. His abusive childhood experiences no doubt contributed to his role as an abuser in adulthood. Either way I don't wish death on him, so I hope he recovers. __________________ -- PlasteredDragon A.K.A. Chuck Seggelin * Sagewood Studios * My Flickr Photostream * My Blog *

It's a bit late for that. He's been confirmed dead by reliable sources for about half an hour now. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Trade them to me, please! Report rules violations. Remember the Auctions Board!

CNBC is no longer a credible news source (if it ever was). I just witnessed my first Church of Scientology commercial.

watching Samurai Jack, the greatest 'story-based' cartoon ever. [added 'story-based' so as not to be lumped together with the dreg that is Simpsons, Family Guy, and the like- which is just episodic unhumor.]

My, you're not obnoxious at all, are you? Anyway, continuing discussion from last night: Yeah, cerb, I'm one of those people who have standards beyond simple physical allure. Obviously it counts (I mean, aside from being France's first lady there's nothing that exceptional about Carla Bruni... aside from the obvious), but if there's some other significant detractor then I could care less. Case in point: Fox. Multiple strengths is a good thing, not just standing there in a pushup with your lower lip slightly open (which seems like it's all she's capable of). My personal favorites in no real order: 1. Kate Winslet 2. Tina Fey 3. Carla Bruni 4. Anne Hathaway <----- 5. Isla Fisher 6. Natalie Portman 7. Jennifer Morisson 8.

That was an amazing show. Do you know if it ever ended? I watched the first season or two and remember being highly impressed. My favorite was the episode where Jack battles hundreds of those black bug robots.

I didn't realize that you were new around here.

Any bets on how a poll asking if we should close this PfS right now and let you create the next one immediately would turn out? __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Oh, that was real slick there, zippy. Editing your post so it says "story-based" instead of "serious".

i editted it right after i posted, knowing that most everyone here considers Simpsons and Family Guy "quality" TV.
but still, "serious" doesn't describe Simpsons or Family and the like- so it would still apply. quote: Originally posted by JackSpade: That was an amazing show. Do you know if it ever ended? There series has "ended" but the actual conclusion of the story is still open- though there was some foreshadowing at the end of Episode XXXIII- Jack vs the Guardian. my favorite epsidoes? too many to count, though i do love all the Jack & the Scotsman episodes. with a few weird and wtf episodes -Jack in Wonderland & Jack in the Gassy Dragon for example- the series was chock full of great episodes. quote: Originally posted by nderdog: Any bets on how a poll asking if we should close this PfS right now and let you create the next one immediately would turn out?
i think only a few people- namely bugger [who should bugger off], JoshSherman (homeless guy down the road >> JoshSherman), and EvilEmpire- would vote for me to gtfa. and the others would probably say "meh, who cares? we've had worse members." and odds still are, once this one closes, this post would have long been forgotten, and pyr0 -or someone else- would have started another PFS regardless.

The only reason i would NOT vote you off is that someone- and it might have been josh- once said "Just leave him be, it's obvious he's trying hard to make people hate him. Don't give him the satisfaction." The reason I suspect it was Josh is that it was somebody on the site i respect enough to listen to them, which means it had to be Josh, Nder in the days we were getting along, Bolty, Snakey, 1ofchaos, Liq or Arakkis (foreverwinter)...and of those, Josh is the one most likely to both be in irc and say that. Drama is everywhere in my life and i'm getting annoyed.

not to be stingy, but- Ghost in the Shell is an anime (create in Japan, by Japanese, etc), Samurai Jack is an american cartoon (created in the states by an american, etc). there is a difference, so comparing GitS to Samurai Jack is like comparing Metallica to the Dixie Chics.

Bah. Games of semantics in order to cling to a point which is based on nothing but subjective opinion. Samurai Jack is inspired by anime, and anime is merely a Japanese style of cartoon animation. Furthermore I'd probably rate Samurai Jack above some anime (Dragonball Z for example) and below others (Ghost in the Shell, obv). (Since I think both Dixie Chicks and Metallica is crap, the comparison you make doesn't resonate with me.)There's nothing inherently better about anime either. A lot of anime is utter dreck, just like a lot of American cartoons. If that wasn't true you wouldn't find anime influencing American cartoons, AND American cartoons influencing anime. A good full circle example is Powerpuff Girls, an American cartoon inspired by anime, and which has now given rise to a fully Japanese anime version "Demashi ta! Powerpuff Girls Z". Therefore I think the distinction you are attempting to make is one of convenience so your original assertion (as noted, entirely subjective) can continue to stand. Knock it off. You know what it boils down to is you just like Samurai Jack a whole lot and there's nothing about it that makes it inherently superior to all other cartoons. I'm glad you like it, I personally can take it or leave it, but I have watched it in the past. I think Ghost in the Shell is infinitely better and would always choose that over Samurai Jack. __________________ -- PlasteredDragon A.K.A. Both Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack were done by the same guy, Genndy Tartakovsky. He is not American....Swedish I think, but I could be WAY off there. Regardless, he speaks with an accent.Samurai Jack is pure art. If people have subjective preferences, that's cool, but I say...watch Samurai Jack and the Spartans, and be amazed.

i respect your opinion. i just get pretentious, because i differentiate anime from cartoons. i've never seen Ghost in the Shell, so i'm not able to compare it to Jack. [of all the anime's i've seen, only BERSERK can come close... but they're on opposite sides of the spectrum.] so i'll leave it at that. quote: Originally posted by Gawain: Both Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack were done by the same guy, Genndy Tartakovsky. Genndy Tartatovsky is Russian. [insert 'soviet russia' joke here] but he also did 2 Stupid Dogs and Dexter's Laboratory. and i agree with Gawain... Jack & the Spartans is possibly the best Samurai Jack episode period. at least give that episode a gander- season 2, ep. 25.
