Wait, a cord of wood is a real term? I always assumed it was just local slang. Huh. /rainbow__________________ MOTL's answer to Billy Crystal. Cord = a stack of wood 4 feet wide by 8 feet long by 4 feet tall.Typically, the logs are cut 18 inches long and "split" if too large to fit in the fireplace. __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Back in my day, we didn't have power tools for cutting wood. And we certainly wouldn't complain about sore arms, or we wouldn't get any dinner.

Back in my days, we had to walk 10 miles through snow to cut our wood. And we certainly wouldn't complain about any of it or Dad would take your head clean off and sit on it for the remainder of the evening. __________________ WWW.DAVIDWIELAND.NL

that's nothing old chap... Back when I was a lad once a week we had to march 30 miles to the coast, barefoot and in rags, to collect driftwood to cut because there weren't any trees nearer to our house. Of course we didn't complain or Uncle would stone you to within an inch of your soul. that's just the way things were

Do yourself a favor and don't start. You don't want to end up like the motley crew at the end of the last PFS... do you? __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Yeah, that all syncs up. I know plenty about splitting logs, too; I grew up in a house with a small wood furnace. Like I said though, thought it was more of a Newfoundland thing. There's actually a dictionary of Newfoundland English for all the random (and often inane) slang around here. __________________ MOTL's answer to Billy Crystal. I probably shouldn't, but sometimes I could use a drink. And a 4 Horseman is a little much for a light weight.
