My Mom, my step kids and I went to a play tonight. It was written and directed by a friend of mine from back in high school. It was called The December Rabbi. My step kids are 10 and 12. One of the characters in it was "The Mohel". A Mohel is the person who performs a Jewish circumcision. If you don't know what that is.. let me know. The Mohel in the play was CRAZY. Well, my 10 year old didn't know what it was, so my Mom explained it to him. He then looked up at my mom and said "And he loves his job WHY?" We broke up laughing!! I swear, I almost peed my pants! The play was awesome though. Can't wait to see my friend's next play! Also.. I can't seem to find where to get that free Dr. Pepper coupon on the site.. where is it?
Thanks, Jazaray

I think that's the first time I've laughed at a Mastercard parody in well over five years, good show. Meanwhile, I think I officially became a member of a minority group yesterday.

$7 for a beer at the larger venues here. 5 or 6 bucks at the smaller shows. __________________ "Think for Yourself. Question Authority." cerberus

I love Lithium. If only the panel of idiots, I mean doctors, at the VA psych ward in Sheridan, WY hadn't misdiagnosed me as bi-polar, and the bigger idio...doctors at the VA psych ward in St Louis had actually done their damn jobs, I could have avoided 4 years of Hell.**end of rant** I need sleep. This being up for 21+ hrs Friday into Saturday is starting to suck.

I'm not complaining so much about the price (I pay 9 or 10 at Cardinals baseball games). But such small small sizes...up until this point the smallest beer I have seen for sale was 12oz at such an event. Seems bizzaro to me. I really love the small 800 seat theater. I can always find someone to go in with me on a pitcher.

You are aware that the use of Lithium as a psychoactive agent stands on the most tenuous of scientific understanding and data, right? __________________ This message brought to you by MOTL's very own fancy biologist.Originally posted by PlasteredDragon: Fancy Biologist has strong stats-fu! I've been debating for a minute or two whether to post "I prefer Beryllium" or "I prefer Smell Like Teen Spirit", and I've just now realized that I need better things to occupy my thoughts. __________________ MOTL's answer to Billy Crystal. I really don't care because it not only works for me, but it is the only thing that has worked. Other than Lithium, there is only one other antipsychotic that I could try (don't recall the name right now) and then it's off to get ECT, aka shock therapy. Why such an extreme? Because if pills don't work, ECT is the only option I'll have left. My hell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychotic_depression

You are aware that Lithium screws up almost as many people as it helps, right? I'm happy for you that Lithium did help you, but the cases where it doesn't help, it really, really messes up the people. __________________ This message brought to you by MOTL's very own fancy biologist.Originally posted by PlasteredDragon: Fancy Biologist has strong stats-fu! No I didn't. When you say "really, really messes up the people", how does it mess people up? I only started taking it a month ago, so I don't really know much about it except that it works for me. So far anyway.

Isn't that true for pretty much any anti-depressant or anti-psychotic? Probably not in the same league as lithium, mind you, but every time I've heard SSRIs, TCAs or anti-psychotics discussed (both casually and academically), it's been mentioned that there are a lot of horror stories out there, as well as a lot of positive results. __________________ MOTL's answer to Billy Crystal. This is true. I can't speak much for success stories as I only have one, but I have a horror story for every med that didn't work. Ziprasidone(sp?), which I took once, completely imobilized me for several hours.

That's not a horror story, as far as psychoactive compounds go. A horror story is "he took a dose of ____, it seemed to work, he was really happy with it so he took home a bottle with 2 week's prescription. By the end of the week, he was hemorrhaging into his brain because he had developed tolerance and finished the bottle." Lithium has been known to induce seizures in light "negative result" situations, and precipitating suicidal episodes in more severe ones. Edit, because I missed it the first time:

Being imobilized by a pill is a horror story for me, but I see your point. Do you, or anyone else, know anything about TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation? All I can find is basic info, and nothing about if it's close to being approved by the FDA.

I've heard of TMS. It's been traditionally used for research purposes in mice. I didn't know it was under investigation for therapeutic use in people, however, though neuroscience is hardly my area of expertise. That being said, how hard is it to go to wikipedia? Seriously. Do it yourself. Read the article, and note that your question was indeed answered. You said you looked for info. Therefore, I can only conclude that your expertise with using the Internet borders on juvenile. __________________ This message brought to you by MOTL's very own fancy biologist.Originally posted by PlasteredDragon: Fancy Biologist has strong stats-fu! You just gave the other, more recent though 'still lingering in the closet', boybands like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys the idea that in ten years when they're all but forgotten that they should relaunch their music careers. Cancel this tour, and go back to your dayjobs. Lest you give Vanilla Ice the inane idea that he could be the next Eminem. Sincerely, A Child of the eighties who doesn't want to reminisce.
