I'm looking for a program that will stitch 2 cds of a movie that I ripped into 1 section. I tried using Microsoft Movie Maker to do this, but it added black strips to the top and bottom of the movie, which makes normal widescreen movies suck.See Picture. Thanks http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d111/pringlesman/crap.jpg

My advice would be to steal wireless internet from your neighbors. I wouln't normally condone this behavior, but nobody should have to suffer through 24k. Was this question from 1996?

Dial up is the only option for me this far out of town. So I must run dial up. I ask again, anyone can help me get my speed better? __________________ Aim: Revenger72 Let's chat now! Geez! Are you on a 28.8K modem? If so, that's probably the best you're gonna get. If you're on a 33.6 or a 56k, my only suggestion (and one you've probably tried) is to keep reconnecting, hoping for better luck.

On a 56k supposedly. __________________ Aim: Revenger72 Let's chat now! Magic, FF, Star Wars! Anything!Need a 3rd party trade? Contact me at this email address. Your 2008 Motl Siskel &/or Ebert award winner!

There are 2 possibilities for the connection speed. One is poor phone lines. Usually, you can tell if this is the issue by hearing static when using the telephone on the line, particularly in hard-wired phones, not cordless handsets. A more likely possibility, given the small number of people that actually use modems and computer manufacturers being cheap, is that you have a wanna-be modem. These pieces of crap go by many names - winmodem, software modem, HSP, but they all refer to a "modem" that pushes all of the processing to the computer rather than doing it onboard like a normal modem does. While this is fine in a machine running optimally, if there is anything at all not right with your machine (garbage in the registry, viruses, spyware, all of those things that happen to a computer shortly after you start using it) these tend to run very poorly. These were the bane of my existence when working tech support for the ISP I used to work at, and customers usually started to grasp the concept of what they got when we pointed out that the pile of garbage in their modem cost $1.95 compared to the $50 or so that actual modems were running on one of the popular computer parts websites. If this is what you have, do yourself a favor and spend a bit of money on a proper modem and you could double your connection speed. Granted, it's still slow as poo, but it's the best you can hope for with dial-up.__________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Myy, Look on google, there is a way you can do it using the host files on your pc. Revenger, please tell me you have the drivers/correct drivers for the modem installed!?! Also, look on google and look up using a proxy. Google used to make one, but I looked and couldn't find it.

Using notepad, open your "hosts" file located in the following folder: Windows Vista = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC Windows XP = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC Windows 2K = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC At the bottom of the file, add the following line: 127.0.0.1 youtube.com Save the file. You may need to restart IE or reboot your computer for this to work. __________________ Everyone you meet is going through something * BoltBait is the official holder of the MOTL Logout Button [Trades] [Rules] [FAQ] [Prices] [Card Searches] [Tools] [WotC] [Dominoes] [Art] [#MOTL Chat] [Logout]

Thanks Mr Bolt. I will try it as soon as I get home.

So I got a question about Excel. I've put in a big long spreadsheet of numbers and have autosummed the values at the end. However, the list is too wide to print out landscape on legal paper. So my question is, is there a way to copy the values in the total column instead of copying the equation? When I try to copy and paste, I get #REF! for the values. I just want the hard numbers.

Copy the value, click on Edit | Paste Special and select Values. __________________ Stuff: Cheeze • Coyote • Cute Mooch books from me!

so... my pc @ home died.. if I wanted to turn it on, it boots and everything, but there's no stability.. it'll randomly turn off. like, 2 mins in. the heat synchs are working, the fans are fine.. I've airdusted the inside, so it's clean. a friend of mine said this is most likely a power source dying on me.. anyone concur or disagree? © __________________ Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong. -Christopher HitchensReligion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. -Seneca the Younger

Sounds about right. Heat and the PSU are the most likely causes for random catastrophic failure. You've already eliminated the former, so the latter is probably the problem. __________________ This message brought to you by MOTL's very own fancy biologist.Originally posted by Battle_of_Twits: So during intertron, the sperm fertilizes the egg inside the intertubes, and nine months later you have a happy meme

There is usually either a key or a series of keystrokes that will change the video output from the screen to the monitor output and back, or sometimes to both. Have you tried that? __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Trade them to me, please! Report rules violations. I was wondering what stats for a laptop are average these days after ordering a new laptop...and getting into a debate on another forum over some aspects.Avg RAM? Avg Processor? Avg Memmory? Avg Graphics card? Avg Wifi protocol? Avg Optical Drive? I was thinking 2-3GB RAM, 2.0GHZ Processor, 250GB, Basic non branded graphics card, 802.11N, DVD/CD combo?

I'm in the process of re-finishing our basement and I want to run some cable through the walls so I don't need random CAT-5 cables all over the place. Basically I want to do this:Modem -> router -> 3-4 wall mounted connections. I don't need a LAN. I just need to be able to plug computers or other devices into the wall and allow them to have internet access. I want the wall jack to serve the same function as the CAT-5 running all over the floor right now. So, like plugging a phone directly into the wall. Researching online is frustrating since I don't really know the terms. Nothing is going further than 30 feet, but somebody mentioned something about using CAT-6 cable instead. Does that make a difference at all? Also, where would be the best type of place to go locally for materials? I'd like to actually see the stuff before I buy.

Have you considered wireless router in place of a normal one? Then you can just use a USB wireless card for your devices anywhere in the house (if they don't have an internal one). Cables are unsightly, and frankly a big hassle. You would be saving yourself a ton of work. If you want to use cable, what is your reasoning over wifi?

I prefer the stability of just being able to plug the desktop in directly, without having to worry about USB issues. I also get a far better connection with my XBOX physically wired to the internet than I do with a wireless adapter. We do currently have a wireless router for some devices, with 3 items physically wired in (2 PC, 1 360) as well. I wandered around the AV section of the hardware store this afternoon, and actually found most of what I'd need to set this up. How hard is to actually create new cables with a crimping tool? __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!
