Help!Major problem, limited capacity to solve. I just bought Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War: Dark Crusade for the PC. Installed it, tried to play it, got this Error message: ERRORS: Spooge driver not found. Verify that DirectX is properly installed. I downloaded DirectX 9.0 thinking that might be the problem. No dice. My graphics card was changed by a buddy of mine before, and I realized that we never actually downloaded the drivers; I updated them. No dice. I tried Googleing the specific error message, and found a bit of info, but it all seemed contingent upon the specific graphics card you're running. There are apparently patches and downloads you can get which will eliminate this problem, but when I tried to get more specific with my search I hit a brick wall. For anyone interested, I'm running an All-In-Wonder 128 Pro Ultra PCI graphics card, by ATI. My system specs are crap, but should be equal to the task of running this game. So....any thoughts? I really wanna play this game dammit! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Known issue. Your card is not supported by Dawn of War. You will need a new graphics card. Dawn of War is ruthless on card chipset requirements.

Buy a new graphics card or play a game that doesn't require something you don't have.

Gee thanks, that was really helpful advice! So yeah, I DO need a new graphics card. Have discovered that mine is crap. I have been considering this one. I did some research, and it apparently runs DirectX 8.1. Anyone know if it is compatible with 9.0? I am having a hard time finding something in my price range. This is what I got so far: http://cgi.ebay.com/128MB-ATI-RADEON-9250-TV-DVI-VGA-PCI-100112_W0QQitemZ400106000125QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Video_TV_Cards?hash=item5d282d0efd#ht_5576wt_852 I need a PCI Graphics Card, at 128 MB, that is made by a reliable company and is DirectX 9.0 compatible. Preferably no more than $30, though I can stretch on this point. I've tried to do my research on this but I'm having a really hard time. And...I really wanna play this game. Thoughts?

Here are the graphics requirements of the game:32 MB DirectX(R) 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, DirectX 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card The reason it states AGP is that PCI cards do not handle throughput for T&L. Sorry. Maybe time to throw a new Mobo in there. I recommend www.ncix.com

Ok, so I'm still trying. Whole new set of problems now, still involving the graphics card.I got an ATI Radeon Mobility 9200 PCI @ 128MB. For whatever reason, I cannot get the drivers to install properly. I have downloaded and attempted to install both ATI Catalyst 11.2 and 6.11, to no avail. I went to Add/Remove Programs and removed everything that looked like a driver for the various video cards I've tried recently, then started over from scratch. Still nothing. I downloaded Everest Home addition, which has given me what useful info I have so far. As near as I can tell, my GC is not compatible with my current version of DirectX, and that is why I can't get my computer to recognize the card. Is this possible? My card again is an ATI Radeon Mobility PCI card @ 128 MB. I have DirectX 9.0c. It says online that the card is compatible with DirectX 8.1, so does that mean that it's not compatible with 9.0? If so, is it possible to remove 9.0 and replace it with 8.1? And, will a game like Medieval 2: Total War (which requires 9.0 apparently) run with 8.1? This is starting to really infuriate me. Edit: Problem solved, though in a less than satisfactory manner. Still, better than nothing :/

So...I bought a computer last fall that came installed with Vista, and it came with a code to redeem for an upgrade to Windows 7. Long story short, I had thrown the stuff in a box when cleaning up my office and totally forgot about it. I found the code the other day and went to redeem my upgrade, and saw there was an expiration.I contacted MS through the Windows 7 upgrade site, and asked if I could still redeem, and was told no. Question is, am I SOL, or is there any possibility I may be able to get my upgrade still if I am persistent enough? --Evil __________________ I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. First thing, I would try another browser (on the same machine) - IE instead of Firefox or vice versa depending on which you use. It's possible that the author of the site you are trying to visit configured it so that it's compatible with IE, but not with Firefox. It's also possible the problem you have is something as simple as a typo on the part of the author who has a link to something like https://MyWebsite.com/secure/login.php when he/she really meant http://MyWebsite.com/secure/login.php, and the site may not really be a secure one, and your browser is getting a mismatch. Any chance you can expand upon where you are what exactly you're trying to do? It's a different answer if you're trying to go to a link or if you've filled out a form with information and the next step leads to an invalid page request. There could be a conflict with your ID, the information being sent, or the site simply does not exist so the request cannot be completed at all.

I use firefox, switched over to IE and it did it on that too. It happens sometimes when I try to go on paypal's website, leave feedback on ebay, and when I go on to some yahoo sports pages. Restarting the computer negates it for awhile, then it'll start back up again. Thanks BTW...

I took the side panel off of my computer tower to clean the fans. After plugging everything back in and starting it up, the keyboard doesn't work. I've tried other keyboards, so it being faulty is not the problem. The three lights do light up when starting but I can not type F2, F8, or F12 to boot in safe mode or get the on-screen keyboard up to use the mouse. Has anyone had this problem before? Edit: Forgot to mention that I unplugged and re-plugged everything yesterday after this happened to see if the comp would recognize the keyboard, it did not. This morning, I tried again and made sure I waited a minute before connecting the power cable. <Problem solved>

I want to build a computer for Starcraft 2 (coming out in 3 weeks or so)Any computer pro, or with good knowledge, want to help me build it (basically, what pieces to buy). My budget is 1.5k, but can go over if needed. Ideally, I want a machine that can last for many years (im replacing a 10 years old pentium 4 that still play warcraft 3) Robert

Thanks, Jazaray
What seems like an innocuous .pdf file in your documents actually contains a Trojan Horse. You'll have to use some kind of utility to remove it. What you can do is reboot your computer, run it in safe mode (F8 as soon as your comp reboots), get AVG or Avast or try your current current anti-virus if it can get rid of it and run a full scan to clean up your computer.

Quick question regarding SATA stuff. The mobo I want to buy has only SATA III connections. Can I plug in like a SATA II device to those?
