nderdog Moderator	posted February 09, 2004 11:17 AM Just a reminder... edit: More helpful hints for safe trading: For email-only offers where they claim to be a MOTL member, check to make sure the email address actually matches the user. Pay special attention to the difference between 0 (zero) and O (capital o), 1 (one) and l (lower-case L) and I (capital i), which are commonly used tricks of rippers. I always copy the email address and paste it into the MOTL member search just to be sure. Also watch for slight misspellings (maybe a doubled-up or non-doubled-up letter, or underscore or something) in the email address. Make sure the domain matches (username@yahoo.com vs. username@hotmail.com) Send with a traceable form of delivery! It's too easy for someone to say they never received your mail otherwise. Far fewer BTA cases would be dismissed for lack of evidence if this was a more common practice. Keep all emails of trades. Without that, you won't have the evidence needed for a BTA case or mail fraud. Make sure that you get an email from them containing the entire trade and all relevant information. This way you have proof that you both agree to the same trade and terms. When a deal has been reached, exchange addresses. Even if they are sending first, it is confirmation of the trade under MOTL rules and will save you headaches later on. If you are trading and offer someone registration/confirmed delivery/insurance for extra cards/money and they decline, make sure you tell them (in the email) that, since they declined that, you will NOT be held responsible for cards lost/damaged in the mail, and that they reply back with acceptance of this. edit2: typos __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here!
